Wrap Up
“Wrap Up” is a Rotary initiative run by clubs across the UK to collect warm winter coats and distribute them locally to individuals and charities supporting people experiencing homelessness and hardship.
In 2025, Winslow Rotary Club participated for the second year, expanding the project from 2 to 5 collection points across Winslow, Whitchurch and Wing, with additional drop-off locations in Steeple Claydon and Twyford. Collection boxes were hosted at local 3W Health surgeries and other community venues.
The collection ran from 27 October to 9 November 2025, timed to ensure
coats could be sorted and distributed ahead of the coldest winter
weather. Over this 2-week period, the club collected nearly 300 coats for
men, women and children. Coats were distributed directly within the local community and through a wide network of partner organisations, including:
- Local community groups and food support services
- Primary and secondary schools in Whitchurch and Steeple Claydon
- Women’s refuges and church storehouses
- Homeless charities and day centres across Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire
- Organisations supporting individuals at risk of reoffending
This project is particularly powerful because it costs nothing to run, relies entirely on community generosity, and delivers immediate, practical benefit. The Wrap Up message of “donate a hug” captures its spirit perfectly, offering warmth, dignity, and reassurance to those who need it most.
An additional benefit has been the strengthening of relationships with local charities and support organisations, creating opportunities for future collaboration where Rotary support may be needed.
Winslow Rotary Club hopes to run the Wrap Up project again in winter
2026.
